Update and a couple of pictures [16. May. 2008 - 13:47]
It turned out that the coughing that Brett has had for what seems like ages was a chest infection, he ended up spending a couple of nights in hospital but is much better now thank goodness, still waking us up in the night though :-(
An update at last........ [15. Apr. 2008 - 23:24]
Finally found time to do a quick update.........
First the not so good news...........Brett is going through a bit of a rough patch again at the moment, it seems like he has asthma. Brett has always been a little bit wheezy and coughed at times but lately it has got worse and then a while ago Brett started to wake up in the night coughing as well. He was not able to stop the cough and it was making him retch and be sick as well. He has been prescribed inhalers and we are due to go back to see his Dr in 2 weeks.
And now for the FABULOUS news........ Brett continues to amaze us daily, and this weekend was no exception, since saturday when we say the word "shake" if he's holding a toy, he is deliberatley shaking it! I know this may sound trivial but its the first time we think that he's properly, properly understood something we have said to him, I cried buckets of happiness at this, it seems such a big thing to us, and we can't stop praising him!
Our move to the coast is off for the time being, the sale of our house fell through and we've decided to wait now till the housing market picks up a bit. It's very disappointing, but sometimes these things happen for a reason, so we're just focusing on all the good stuff in our lives at the moment!
Smiling again! [11. Feb. 2008 - 20:28]
Here's our beautiful boy Brett, smiling again!
He is such a happy chap now he's on the new formula which is for milk intolerance, it's made such a difference and we still can't quite believe it! Our plan now is to talk about what the long term goals are, we have been trying very small tastes of solids but he is really struggling still to coordinate his swallowing, and his breathing gets quite noisy so I am putting it on hold until we've talked to his doctor and speech therapy. Ideally I would like his swallowing assessed by video before we persevere any more. We also need to way up what the options are if he continues on ng, (it would be nice to do overnight feeds instead of all day long, but he fidgets so much at night and often pulls out the tube!) he really dislikes having the tube put in each week and he is constantly pulling at it. Lots to think about really!
Bretts first birthday! [15. Jan. 2008 - 20:51]
Brett was one year old on Sunday, it was lovely to mark the occassion with a little party because Brett has been through so much during these last twelve months and we are so very proud of him! The photos are now in the photo section. If you look at the pictures of the party food you will notice a spongebob cake, but NO Thomas cake - Sam was right, I can't cook!! lol
Just one question...... Julie, where were you????? lol
Brett will be One year old on Sunday! [10. Jan. 2008 - 08:26]
Brett is One on Sunday! We're having a little party for family and a few friends. I'm having a go at making a Thomas Tank cake (Sam has already reminded me I can't cook, lol!) and have bought a Spongebob one from Asda as well. I will post the pictures next week.
Here is a picture of Emma having a cuddle from Brett, there's more in the photos section.
