Gary came down with a cold today and was sneezing everywhere, so me and Sam went to visit Brett without him. I changed Bretts nappy again and tried him with a feed but he didn't want to know so we ended up feeding him through the tube.

Brett is now on 75ml of milk every 3 hours. Brett went cold this afternoon so he had to go on to a heat pad and extra blanketts. Bretts temperature came back up. He is on oxygen. I spent time giving brett cuddles and also changed his bottom which had became sore, i have asked the nurses to check his bottom more frequently and they have kindly agreed to do so.

Brett's feed is now 2 hourly, and he is taking 50ml. Again he was tried on just air but proved to still need a little bit of oxygen. He is now in an ordinary cot and his temperature is being maintained well, progress indeed!

Brett is now on 10ml per hour of feed, still through his tube. His antibiotics finished today, and he is off the oxygen. The line in his abdomen was removed and a cannula has been put into his hand instead. The best news of all is that today he has been transferred into an ordinary baby cot! Unfortunately it wasn't for long though because he became too cold and his oxygen levels dropped again, but at least it was a try and he tolerated it for a short time. Once back in the incubator he was ok and his temperature righted itself as did his oxygen levels.

Brett is now tolerating 4ml of feed per hour via an NG tube, I had lots more cuddles today and Brett is now doing very well with periods of time without the oxygen. He has been transferred from the ITU part of the special care unit where the nursing is one to one and is now in the HDU part where it is one nurse to three babies - to us this means he's doing well, progress!
